Happy Place Sports Bar, an Orange County bar shuttered in October after a series of shootings, was the hub for a major Central Florida drug trafficking organization, local and federal authorities said Friday.,Sheriff John Mina, along with members of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, announced the dismantling of the organization, which resulted in the arrests of 16 people and confiscation of dozens of guns and $180,000 in cash.,The Sheriff’s Office enlisted the help of other agencies when it realized the organization was behind a series of violent crimes dating to 2015, according to Director Ron Stucker of the MBI, a task force targeting vice and organized crime in Orange and Osceola counties.,Stucker said the organization had been distributing between one and two kilograms of cocaine and heroin per week on average in Central Florida.,Mina said members of the organizations played a role in numerous shootings in Orange County, including two at Happy Place Sports Bar in July and October.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Local, state and federal investigators said they broke up a drug trafficking organization and arrested 16 people.,Law enforcement officials said the suspects moved those drugs through a troubled bar, called the Happy Place Sports Bar, on which WFTV News has done several stories.,Officials with the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation said the16 suspects were part of a robust drug organization.,Investigators said the group was moving one to two kilos of heroin and cocaine a week through Orange County.,Investigators said the organization is connected to that murder and the other issues that were happening at the bar and all over Orange County.

This Sunday, County of Orange officials plan to pull the plug on a five-year field agreement they struck with the youth football and cheer team back in 2017.,Back then, a frustrated County Supervisor Shawn Nelson engaged youth league leader, Fred Jung, to help revamp a local sports field that had been largely abandoned by the county parks department, just off Rosecrans Avenue, near Clark Regional Park.,Supervisor Doug Chaffee, a Democrat who now represents the Fourth District and is a former Fullerton Mayor, told me he has asked OC Parks to keep the City of Fullerton in charge of administering the fields on a “fair” basis to “all” teams.,Without any action from the county on the lease, the challenge now turns to Fullerton City Manager Ken Domer to consider the special circumstances behind the development of those sports fields and figure out a use agreement that can keep the Bears doing what they are doing for so many working class kids.,Indeed, County supervisors and their city colleagues should work diligently to ensure that any kid living in one of their districts could attend an inexpensive youth sports activity every day.

RHINEBECK, N.Y. — District officials are paying close attention to reviews by Section IX that could affect which teams students will be eligible to participate with and the schools Rhinebeck can merge with.,District Athletic Director Steve Boucher said concern has been raised over mergers that have made some teams significantly better.,Boucher said the rules were updated to grant mergers for teams if one district cannot field a full roster but is making an effort to restore or establish the sport.,For sports such as golf and track that have both individual competitions and an overall team result, there would need to be a shortage of players for both districts that would prevent a school from winning the overall competition.,It prohibits the two districts from jointly having mixed squads for events that would involve relays, which Boucher said does unfairly affect athletes who are not part of the full team.
