Staying positive no matter what

in Psychologist

Dr. Brett offers advice to help you keep your positive attitude no matter how tough the situation you are facing is. As he states, little things as diet, exercising and sleep matter the most because they have a big impact on your level of energy. Changing your habits into healthier ones is the first step to a continuous state of positivity.

In addition to this, doing things that you are good at, things that challenge your creativity and imagination are useful too because they will make you feel more alive. A combination of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual will help you stay positive and feel good.

Video transcription:

Hi, Dr. Brett here. In light of the economic downturn, how can we raise our game? How can we pick it up a little bit so we're not left behind, because we all know that a lot of people, or a fair amount of people are getting left behind right now, because it's not an easy environment, economically, and when it's not easy economically, it's just not easy, period is it? So, what we want to do is we want to find a way to stay positive no matter what. It's not easy staying positive no matter what. This is part of the reason why we want to manage our emotional states really, really well. So, what does that mean, managing your emotional states? It means diet, exercise, right? Sleep -- these things all matter. So what you want to do is you want to be eating a little bit greener; less sugar, right? less alcohol, less things that are toxic or acidic, things that are healthier, foods that are healthier make a difference in your energy level. Exercising, running, doing things that are fun, doing things outside. It's summer time right now. This makes a difference too, because you tend to feel more positive after you exercise and eat well. So that's a physical piece that makes a big difference emotionally. It even makes a spiritual difference, because you feel more lit up and more alive when you physically feel good. You interview better in a job situation when you physically look and feel good; you actually have more self-confidence. So these are some of the basic things you can do to make a difference. The other thing you can do is start to do things that make you feel alive and make you feel creative. If you have extra time, and there's a project you've been thinking about doing, but you've never done before. ( Maybe you're artistic.) You want to start doing the things that you love because that's going to keep you positive as well. So what we're looking at is a combination of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Doing things you love feels good emotionally and spiritually, doesn't it? Dr. Brett, psychologist, consultant, and coach.
