With so many things each day pulling me in different directions, how can I create the life I've always wanted?

I’ve answered aspects of this questions before. First, we must eliminate the dramas and distractions in our life. This will take time, patience, and often hard work. Once we have eliminated most of the garbage from of our lives, we must prioritize again what is most important to us and focus on it. If a major part of our life, such as our family or our job, takes up so much time that we don’t seem to have enough time or energy to create the life we really want, then we have a real problem. Many times, eliminating all the extraneous stuff creates enough space for us to work on what we truly love, who we truly want to be, or whom we want to be with. If this is not the case then we must make some tough decisions.

Lets assume you eliminated most of the extraneous stuff and you are still finding it nearly impossible to focus on what you truly want. The tough decision might be to leave a certain relationship or career even if that means making a significant sacrifice. Only you know in your heart if this is the right thing for you to do. No one can give you this answer. It must come from deep within. Have you exhausted all other options and now it is time to make a major life decision? If so, cultivating courage we be the major theme of your life until you do so. I coach men, in particular, not to have children until they are doing something vocationally that they enjoy or at least on a career path that feels right. It only gets harder to find one’s path once the family responsibilities start. This is especially true for very decent and responsible people!
