NORMAN –The Oklahoma women’s tennis team is set for a road clash with Arkansas Sunday. First serve at the Billingsley Tennis Center is scheduled for 10 a.m. CT.

In its last weekend of competition, OU (3-1) defeated Winthrop 4-0 before narrowly falling to then-No. 2 Vanderbilt 4-3 at ITA Kickoff Weekend in Memphis.

Against Winthrop, OU picked up the doubles point with wins from Jasmine Asghar and Ivana Corley at the top spot and Kianah Motosono and Olekdandra Korasvili on court three. In singles, Corley cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory on court five, while Camila Romero got a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot. Freshman Motosono clinched the match for OU, winning 6-1, 6-1 on court six.

The Sooners opened the Vanderbilt contest with the doubles point. Korashvili and Motosono again captured the point for OU, holding on for a 7-6 (5) victory at the No. 3 spot. Two Sooners notched singles victories. At the No. 2 line, Korashvili stunned No. 15 Christina Rosca in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Asghar made quick work of No. 71 Carolyn Campana on court four, winning 6-0, 6-2.

Junior Korashvili earned Big 12 Player of the Week accolades for her performances against Vanderbilt and Winthrop.

The award marked the first career honor for Korashvili, who made her OU debut this spring. She becomes OU’s first Big 12 Player of the Week since Whitney Ritchie in 2014.

The Razorbacks enter the weekend with a 6-0 mark on the season, with four of those wins coming at home. Arkansas has swept all but one match this year.

Tatum Rice and Martina Zerulo lead the way for the Razorbacks with each owning a record of 5-0 between the No. 1 and 2 spots. In doubles, the duo has a 2-0 mark at the top spot. Lauren Alter and Laura Rijkers are 2-1 on court two.

The Sooners and the Razorbacks last met in 2018 in Norman, with Arkansas prevailing 4-3. Current Sooners Asghar, Romero and Skyler Miller all picked up wins in the contest.

First serve is set for 10 a.m. CT. Live stats will be available for the contest.

The Sooners return to the Headington Family Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 3 to host Arizona State at 10 a.m. CT.
