Thanks to the support of the local community, the United Methodist Women of Fairfield Community United Methodist Church, fondly known as the Community Angels, were able to donate a total of $3,200 to two local non-profit organizations that help women and children. Since the pandemic eliminated in-person fundraising activities, the organization used a variety of virtual pop-up shops to raise money in 2020. Even with the difficulties faced during the year, the UMW was excited to be able to support two excellent local organizations, with donations of $1,600 to each one. The UMW has long supported the Girl Scouts of Northern California’s “Got Choices” program, which provides Girl Scout programs to girls in juvenile hall and at the PAL center. The second organization receiving $1,600 was Solano County Faith in Action, which provides essential services to home-bound and frail seniors.
The UMW hopes to continue with its annual Holiday Boutique in November 2021; be on the lookout for more information on the boutique and special pop-up craft sales in the meantime. Thanks to the generous support of these events by the community, the UMW has been able to donate over $65,000 to deserving local charities.
